 Summers had more spankings. Both from being home from school, plus warm weather and holidays tended to bring out the boistrous/rebellious behaviour that led to getting smacked.

Summer ones also hurt worse. Cause Dad (mostly) smacked pants up, cause we wear less or thinner clothes in summer, means less protection. Being hit across shorts naturally hurt worse than across pants.

Couple that with the fact that we spent plenty of time in water (beach, backyard pool), and Dad had no issues with smacking me with only a pair of speedo briefs on. Those times hurt so bad!
