I don't think "appropriate or not" or "okay vs. not okay" is really applicable in a general sense. What may work for some may not work well for others. If a college daughter or any adult over 18 is physically corrected, then it must be a joint conclusion it's the best thing for that person at that time. What is not okay is to pigeon-hole a college aged daughter into circumstances where she has no choice or is indirectly coerced into accepting it. The emphasis must always be on teaching self-discipline first. Just my opinion of course. Opinions will vary on this. Just like the use of spanking itself at any age. In cases where the daughter posts on forums like this that they are in a loving family, and she uses the kind of language that spankophiles use to describe their experiences, it is safe to say that all is well with the use of the hairbrush in this situation.
