I work with young adults (over 18 of course) so it's nice to know what older teens experience (and early 20's). That's a good position for using a belt or strap. My dad's strap is an actual punishment strap. I only get the strap and it's always face down on the table in his private study at home. Did I mention that the table is out from the wall so dad steps from side to side to make sure my entire buttocks on both sides gets equal attention. I have read about quite a few girls older than I still getting it. That tells me that at 17, my spanking days are not numbered. I do not think any "protocol" as such, if it existed, would adequately serve all ages and situations. Every teenager is different. Every family is different. Some kids are not spanked after 12 and some need it into their 20's. Although it can be argued if that's the case, the overall parenting method might need to be reassessed. Seems your Dad is thorough and effective. That is a good thing, else the punishment would not work well. Aside from going overboard. A strap given to your bare bottom and thighs while laying face down is perhaps one of the most effective methods out there IMO. Hopefully you won't need it later, Stacie.
