Administering plain warm water or Castile soap enemas is not harmful, even if done periodically, like weekly. I have heard that from seasoned nurses and docs as well. Some are also against their use. A probiotic can be taken if the loss of good bacteria and flora is a concern. The disposable chemical enemas are not good except for occasional constipation relief.

They were popular decades back and I recall seeing bags hanging in bathrooms of friend's homes several times. Nobody made a big deal out of it. Nobody claimed abuse or suffered from a messed-up biome. Some were used only for constipation, other moms found any reason to give one.

Based on my experience, their occasional use can also help adjust a young adult lady's nasty attitude and and help alter bad eating habits. They may certainly not be for everyone, however, and that's okay. Geez... they

I don't think an occasional enema is harmful, the importance of the biome notwithstanding.

There are purely medical indications for enemas, but what is considered medically necessary has changed dramatically over the past 50 years.

Yes, that has changed. The indications have lessened in number I believe. There are alternatives. But you can't beat the effectiveness though and the simplicity.
