Hi Julie. This is very serious for sure. Do you believe that a spankin would be more effective than grounding her and maybe pulling car keys for a period of time?

Or maybe it is a combination of both?

Your question is how many strokes. As I read it, she committed three offenses, holding a party without consent, drinking under age, and lying. The paddling should reflect all three and each segment should be announced to make clear why the number you arrived at is being administered.

The number of course depends on whether the paddle is to her bare bottom and how intense it is applied. So no one can really give you an exact number.

Perhaps a guide is that it should result in significant tears and contrition and be guided as well by the color of her bottom and her reaction to the paddle. My take is that the paddling should be between one and two dozen, again having regard to the variables mentioned and any crocodile tears or exaggeration of effect by your daughter. You two can best judge real reactions from her.
