As promised, here is the latest round of the Female Smoking in Video Games awards.

2024 was a fairly average year for smoking in video games. I don't feel that we got any new classics, but there were several decent entries. In fact, there were enough good-quality releases that I've decided to do two runner-ups this year (though one ended up coming from a prior year).

Second runner up:
The Immaculate Drag

Although this was a 2022 release, I'm including it here based on the year it was added to the list. The low production values of this game make it feel more like a personal project than a studio release, but any game with such a strong focus on smoking as a storytelling device deserves a mention.

First runner up:
Nobody Wants to Die

Film Noir is often a goldmine for smoking. Unfortunately, this entry contained only a single example of female smoking, but what an example it was. Body swapping and nicotine addiction is a concept that is sometimes explored in smoking-fetish fan fiction, but here we see it played out in a mainstream video game.

FSVG 2024 winner:
Alone in the Dark (2024)

This 2024 remake of the 1992 Alone in the Dark featured multiple smoking scenes from two different women. Most were from the protagonist, Emily Hartwood, who was notable in that she did not seem the type to be a smoker, coming off as a bit of a female Indiana Jones, somewhat studious and athletic. The other woman, Ruth Tallant, fit the smoker stereotype more, coming off as a bit of party girl or bar fly. The multiple smoking-related interactions and dialog between two women were also very nice to see. Finally, while the hints at attraction between the two women may be seen as unnecessary fan service, it did add one more dimension to some of the smoking scenes. For all these reasons, this Alone in the Dark remake is 2024's clear winner.
