The FSVG thread has once again been archived, so here is the new 2024 version.

And now, the first updates of the year!

Alone in the Dark (2024)

This is a remake of the original Alone in the Dark (1992), with a modern engine. Two of the female characters, the protagonist Emily Hartwood (voiced and motion-captured by actress Jodie Comer) and Ruth Tallant (Kelly Ohanian) smoke cigarettes in several extended cutscenes. In one scene, Ruth comments that Emily is smoking perique tobacco and asks to try one of Emily’s cigarettes, which she accepts in a very intimate manner.

Even for a game set in the 1930s, it is unusual these days to see such extensive portrayal of smoking. This may be due in part to the developer and publisher being European (developer Pieces Interactive is Swedish, and publisher THQ Nordic is Austrian).

Hauma --- A Detective Noir Story
(One that got away, due to no female tobacco smoking)

Our heroine Judith awakens next to an ashtray overflowing with cigarette butts. She starts her morning by taking a hit off a bong. During her adventure, she smokes a “cigarette” made of rolled scorpion skin as a stimulant, though she may have only sniffed it like incense. And one of the main male characters has a cigarette constantly dangling from his mouth. Despite all this, I did not find a single instance of a woman smoking tobacco in this game.
