Subject: New Smoke City - Volume 142 will be a thing!

I'm excited!

Well, not really.

Maybe a little bit.

Anyway, thanks to Mark, there's overflow form Volume 141, which will drop on the 28th. Yay!

As I've mentioned before, I've made an alteration to the table of contents, to indicate which month a story was written in, and this volume will contain stories from this month.

Then there's Volume 142.

Here's where things get tricky.

So far there's one story as filler. So Nine open slots.

I doubt is nine authors will come up with nine stories in that time, so 142 will also contain stories from March, which if it fills by then, it will drop in March, not February. Unless of course I get a whole bunch of stories.

I've decided to keep the limit of 10 stories per volume, so when it hits that limit, it will be considered ready to go, and will drop on the 28th of whatever month we happen to be in.

Any overflow after it hits the 10 story limit will go into the next volume. This will save me from having odd numbers of stories in subsequent volumes.

So any future volumes will appear ever 2 to 3 months, depending on content.

I told you things will get erratic.

I probably would have had more content, but along with the usual hardcore filth some people write, there are a few authors who rely on AI to assist in story writing. This is lazy, and stifles actual creativity. If you have an idea for a story, you have enough imagination to write the story. If you don't feel up to it, pass on your idea to an actual Human, and get them to write it for or with you. I'm sure these writers will give credit where it's due. This has been done before, and it works well.

That aside, in the longer term, there are two milestones I aim to pass, one being 2000 stories, the other being Volume 150. Though given how things are now going, that may take longer than expected. If I was getting a solid 9 or 10 stories a month, both would probably happen this year, but since things are going to be a bit variable, one or both will happen in 2025 or 2026.

We need now blood in the genre.

I obviously can't force people to write, but I can encourage people to take that first step.

If you don't think you can, at least have a go, write for yourself first, even if you never intend to see it published. That was you can figure out if it's something you enjoy doing. If not, well, at least you know, but if you make that start, and see something in it, keep going. If you're looking for Inspiration, look at Curious' Story Inspiration Sources thread, read other stories, or check out some of the writing guides, or, ask for help, that's what we're here for.
