I see only your IP address which tells me very little. I can not identify you from an anonymous post, however, if you post something and sign your real name to it and then at a later date post an anonymous message, I can search the IP address and it will match up the two so that I can tell that both messages were posted from the same computer/device. Please rest assured though, that I almost never look at this info. I just view the board as you do and only ever access the admin side if there is a problem post.

If I log into the admin area, I can see your ISP and there are online sites that allow anyone to search for the geographical location of an IP address. So for example...

I can see that you posted from Australia and that your ISP is Bigpond. A location search of your IP says that you are in Carlton, Victoria. So you will have to tell me if that is correct :) I searched my own IP and it got the state right but not the correct town. So it's a bit hit and miss.

I hope that helps. If you never post with your real name, there is no way for a moderator to know who you are. As far as I'm aware, only the police can legally find out who you are by requesting it from your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
