I would be wary of a sports trainer who merely adapts his/her training to your dancer without understanding the movements in Irish dance. Too many trainers are not trained in dance and don't know what dancers need.

On the flip side, too many dancers turned trainers may overtrain just the muscles used in dance and not strike an overall balance.

Furthermore I don't believe in online training -- at least not until you've worked in person with a trainer to understand how to execute all moves properly. Proper alignment is key to avoiding injury, as is moving slowly and deliberately through a move.

Once you have the proper knowledge and form, cross training and strength training can be very beneficial to any athlete, including dancers, and an online program can be a very good (and cost-effective!) way to stay on track.
