Because of The Battle of Midway being the only military battle in history waged across the International Date Line, PBY Catalina flying boats (seaplanes or amphibious aircraft) launched from the Midway atoll very late on Wednesday June 3rd (shortly before midnight), sighted ships of a Japanese fleet very early on Friday June 5th (soon after midnight), and actually landed back at/on Midway on Thurs. June 4th. Thurs. June 4th was the day when most of the battle was decided, with the following 2 or 3 days, the last ones of the battle, being mostly of considerably lesser consequence & therefore even somewhat anticlimatic. Did Hooman or Max know that?

These are good. The 2 Jennifers looks like it might be AI. There has been a lot of that lately. I knew about the PBYs at Midway. I have read a lot about WWII. Thanks for the posts!

I did not know about the International Dateline situation. Thanks for that info

Those PBY reconnaissance flights were codenamed Strawberry. I believe it was Strawberry 5 that made the first sighting
