We didn't celebrate our cats' birthdays. Everyday was a good day for them. When we adopted Mozzie, he had 4 other cats to play with. Over the years they all died, and he was an only cat. After a couple of years we adopted another cat for him to be with. They did not get along, and we eventually had to re-home the new cat. After that he was very happy and content to be an only cat. He remained that way until he left us. I don't think you need to feel guilty.

Thanks so very much for all that. The beautiful & extremely handsome Mozzie sounds so much like someone who would very likely have gotten along very well with our extremely peaceful, gentle, & well-behaved female Bailey. Too bad that they never even got to meet each other.

What we regret most of all is never getting to see how our little Bailey was as a young little kitten before her adulthood - no videos, no photos, absolutely nothing at all! But I wish Sage & Bennie, as well as you & your wife, all the very best.
