I don't use a hairbrush with my kids, but recently I've gone from hand spanking to a spatula. It's made of olivewood, about a foot long and the business end is about two inches wide. It's kept in a container with the other kitchen tools on the counter. I like being able to keep it in plain sight.

Growing up, we got it with a paddle that was handmade by my dad. Mom actually used it more than he did, and it was small enough to be used when we were over her knee.
