I think that's an very interesting question.
I like to spank with my hand and not with my fingers spread but with my thumbs open. Flat hand and a little concave.
I give myself enough time to spank the whole bottom. It's not done in 30 seconds. Always spank steadily and rhythmically and watch how the bottom turns into the desired red color area.

The howling gets louder, tears and snot flow more and more and you realize how you're getting through and how their cheeks are shining gloriously red. I spank with my right hand and I tend to slap the right cheek harder, but I try to spank both cheeks equally thoroughly. From top to bottom and of course with special attention to the lower area.

The sound when you spank the bare bottom with your hand is unmistakable and simply wonderful. You can spank with a brush, with a wooden spoon, with a spatula, but nothing is like a good sound spanking by hand. It is just marvelous.

I also believe that it increases the feeling of bonding between mother and child, of familiarity and love. We spank with love.
