Rachel,

Even though I am a strong advocate of administering a sound spanking with an implement, especially with my hairbrush, I have long come to find that starting with a good hand spanking is imperative in giving a good and proper spanking. And like most of the moms here, I also love the feel and sound of my hand smacking their bare bottom.

When done correctly, there is nothing like administering a good, sound hand spanking. The smacking sound is very much unique to connecting with an implement. And even though the children exercise their lungs the loudest and their tears and snot flow the most abundantly when I put my wooden spoon or hairbrush to work, they still let me know with their desperate wails and screams, along with their frenzied state on my lap, that my hand spanking is still plenty painful on it's own and something they want to avoid at all costs.

When I was younger, I was strictly an implement spanker because that is how our Mom spanked myself and my sisters. But for quite some time now (about 15 years ago), I began using my hand to start off my spankings on recommendation from more than one friend. The only regret I've had is I didn't start doing so earlier.
