Like you said, it is good to encourage healthy questioning and debate. I never wanted my children to ever think they couldn't talk to me about something they didn't like that was implemented. That said, I don't think there was ever a situation where I changed my decision, but I at least heard them out. As long as they spoke civilly to me about it.

However, once I told them no, that was final. If they continued to argue, even if done civilly, then they were warned to drop it now. And if they continued, then it was, as you said, they were "bent bare-bottomed over my knee for a good, old-fashioned spanking."

As I've mentioned before, I do use toddler chairs for post-spanking corner time. So you could say that is my "naughty chair". There are times I don't use corner time, depending on the situation. But I do most of the time. However, I have never had them sit in it instead of a spanking. And it is only brought out for corner time after I've had to spank.
