I also think that administering a good spanking can be very therapeutic in many ways. You are doing your parenting duties and doing your child a lot of good, even if they don't believe it with their sore bottom. Both parent and child benefit.
And it's true that the muscles are very relaxed afterwards. A little workout a week is certainly not a bad thing. For body and soul!
