When a friend (or friends) of my children had a later bedtime (which was not uncommon), and they came over for a sleepover, they went to bed at my son's or daughter's bedtime. Keep in mind though I usually extended their bedtimes an hour or two for sleepovers.

But bedtime was made clear to to any visiting friends as soon as they came over, as well as the other rules, and consequences (spanking) if they broke any of the rules.

Yes, I did get protests from friends of my children more than once how their bedtime was later, but I told them that this is their bedtime while they are here. And they have the choice now that they can go to bed at that time, or I can drive them home. If they agreed to it, but decided to protest and continue to argue about it later, then I gave them a spanking. Much like I would with my children when they continued to argue about bedtime.
