Jenny, I was surprised to find out this was a 'thing' for some parents when spanking the bare bottoms of their children. Given how painful a good spanking with mother's hairbrush invariably is, I am relieved to hear your friend's son is 14yo, and more able to take such a spanking than a younger boy would be, with oil rubbed into his bottom beforehand.

I have three sons - two of which are still spanked as discipline. Their bottoms are bared while bent over my knee, and never have I considered rubbing in some oil to their buttocks prior to tanning them with my hand and slipper. Never have they mentioned being short-changed on the severity of a spanking from me, well not that they would, of course! However, it is quite evident from the furious massaging of their soundly spanked burning backsides, and the pained expressions on their wan faces, that the boys know Dad has disciplined them properly for their bad behaviour.

With regards to your own 12yo son, I'd carry on as you are. Put the boy across your knee and soundly spank his bare bottom with your hand and/or hairbrush when needed. I have little doubt that he feels each and every one of his mother's spankings - as well he should. No need for oil.

If your son has been on the end of a particularly good sound spanking from you - where marks and bruising are maybe visible an hour or so later - then Angela's approach of putting her son/daughter back across her knee and gently massaging in some moisturising cream into the recently spanked buttocks is an excellent idea. Your son will appreciate this kindness and consideration from Mom.
