Hi Jan,

When I first started participating in this forum, I was just a hand spanker to my two boys. The youngest was about 13 if I remember correctly. I feel like the spankings that I administered were effective, however after learning so much from Mary and others within this forum, I added a wooden hairbrush. I will always start spankings with my hand, however nearly all spankings now conclude with a dose of the hairbrush.

Every child/teen is different, but I truly found that adding an implement such as a hairbrush really brought the spankings up a notch. There is no doubt that my boys noticed and have benefitted from it.

It is a personal choice, however as your son gets older, it may be worth adding an implement such as a hairbrush to the mix and see how it goes and how he responds.

I will always be a hand spanker as well as I feel like that is such an important part of a spanking as far as the bond between parent and child/teen, however in my case the hairbrush is here to stay as well.
