So sorry I missed this at the time, Janice.

Yes, that was very much my experience with Jack. I found that as the sting of the spanking grew - and remember I used the back of a wooden hairbrush on his bare bottom from the start - he lost control of things. So the clenching didn't last any more than his determination not to cry did.

I agree that it is at this post-clenching stage the real learning takes place. If Jack gave me an attitude or a tough-guy act then that had to be spanked out of him before we got on to the spanking for his actual offence, otherwise that spanking wasn't going to work.
