I mainly spank over the lap just for the sake of ease. Their bottom is ready as they dangle over my knees. It also feels easiest to control their squirming this way.

However if I feel the need to deliver a quick spank or two, or three, maybe four, I will deliver it it whatever position my kiddos are already in, standing, lying on their tummy etc.
