Bath time when my kids were under 13. There is absolutely no punishment I’m aware of that is more humbling to a pre-teen child, who has been entrusted to bathe themselves for years, who are perfectly able to bathe themselves, than to have no choice but to submit to being bathed by their parents. This was reserved for deliberate disobedience and direct challenges to our authority. The spanking was the immediate punishment, and the bath would come later. Having their privacy invaded and being forced to stand up in the bath to get soaped up and down like toddlers at age 11 and 12 dispelled any question of our authority over them.
