Hi Kelly,

You certainly don’t have to discuss the brush with him in advance, but it’s something that I did and in favor of. I knew that the brush would sting quite a bit more than my hand, really taking the spanking up a couple of notches. I just wanted my boys to know in advance so that they could make the choice as to how hard they wanted to try to avoid behavior that would warrant a spanking with the hairbrush. I knew full well there was no way young teens could avoid such behavior for too long, however I just felt more comfortable letting them know in advance that spankings in the future would be different.

Please let us know what you decide!
