They do forget how much it actually stings, burns and hurts. My boys just remember it hurts, they forgot just how much until it is too late.

I have heard so many times "I forgot how much that spoon hurts”

Another reason they are not thinking clearly of the stinging pain that is coming, is the embarrassment factor of mom baring their bottom and knowing they have to go over our lap with their bottom on display.
