I'm glad this has worked for you, Paige. I don't usually give advice here, because every child is different and every family situation is different.

I liked the formality of having the chair ready and the hairbrush out of the draw when Jack came downstairs in his pyjamas. It told him this was a serious business and maybe helped to undermine his tough guy act.

And I loved putting the brush away and moving to the couch while he did his war dance - 12 years old going on 4. I really think the cry and cuddle afterwards was as important as the actual spanking.
