Shannon, I'm so happy that you have found my memories useful.

The evening was the only part of the day when I had the time to deal with Jack's behaviour. I think that when you are the only parent you really have to make sure you are being fair. So I would always listen to Jack's side of things, and if I saw he was sorry and had learnt his lesson, I would not necessarily spank him.

But if a spanking is called for, then you need time to be calm and about it and to offer comfort afterwards. It's amazing how keen a little tough guy can be on cuddles after a meeting with the back of the hairbrush. And that walk upstairs after it was all over! Is there anything cuter?

I tend not to offer advice, because every child and family situation is different, but I am so glad to have helped.
