Hi Mark,

My boys have and always have had a combination of the two, elastic waistband and drawstring pajama bottoms. I have always taken my time baring them the drawstring is very good for that, with the elastic band I lower their pjs to below their bottom pause then down to their knees pause then to the floor, my boys wear underpants to bed so I lower everything to the floor and have them step out of them.

My boys are Mark 9 Eric 12 and Kenny who is 15 and I will also give their bottoms pats and good playful swats when they are in their pjs.
