Yes, all three were soundly spanked. I am discovering that I become an almost other person when it is spanking time. I’m generally very relaxed and easy going, but when it is time to spank, I become extremely strict and controlling. Not mean, but extremely serious. For me, spanking isn’t a joke. It is healthy discipline and it needs to be done right. As the stepmom, I especially need to make sure that the spankings hurt. If I spank like a wussy, the kids will think I’m a joke and won’t respect me, not just as a disciplinarian, but in the arenas of parenting. The kids need to respect me, not out of fear, but because they know that I will spank them because I love them too much not to. I am a firm believer that spankings must be painful, but done out of love too.

Keeping Joey over my knee for a bit after I had stopped spanking him was good for both of us. He was able to cry it out a bit, and I was able to view and feel his burning hot buns. I loved feeling the heat radiating off his freshly beaten bottom.

Now that I have spanked Bailey and Levi twice, and Joey once, the kids seem to be more affectionate toward me. Most anti-spankers will argue that spanking a boy or girl will cause them to reject the spanking parent, but I’m not experiencing that, nor did I ever have a reaction like that toward my own mom or dad after one of them soundly spanked my own bare bottom. As far as a I know, neither of my sisters ever felt resentment toward Mom or Dad after being spanked. Maybe if the parent spanked unjustly, the child would develop resentment, but in my humble opinion, kids aren’t dumb. They know when they have been disobedient and have crossed the line. Kids know when they have earned themselves a spanking, and that Mom or Dad is simply doing what is right and just. The spanking will be painful and there will be a lot of howling and screaming during it, but it was administered because it needed to be. And with the child’s best interests in mind.
