A very well deserved spanking and a public one made it even worse for him.

Both of my boys had their share of curfew violations with no call on text would not answer me and on occasion come home with an attitude and received a serious spanking. I gave them a 10 minute window if they called in advance with a good excuse. Aaron had one at 18 as well, Steven though has not had a curfew violation at 18.
