Jennifer,

Your girls having been in a moving vehicle while not wearing safety belts was a HUGE deal. While their dad definitely should have been more responsible and made sure that the they were buckled up, it was their responsibility as well. I always tell my kids that just because someone else does or doesn’t do something, they are still responsible for their own safety and decision making. Your girls were responsible for getting themselves buckled up. They can’t say, ‘I didn’t know’, when they absolutely knew that they needed to be buckled up. At eleven and thirteen, they absolutely deserved to have their bare bottoms soundly paddled until they couldn’t sit down for a very long time.

I bet their bare rear ends were BRIGHT RED!!!!
