Amanda,

My legs are together and I do have decent size thighs, I will also as with Mary turn to my left when taking them over my lap by turning the couch or mattress will be beneath their upper body and I have them wiggle forward to where I want them. There were a few times with Aaron at 18-19 when he was bigger and really started kicking I would move my right leg dropping his legs down and wrap my right leg over his.
