Like I said to RW, the oval head of the bathbrush wasn’t any heavier than a typical hairbrush. It was the long-handle contributing the velocity that made the big difference. When the wooden oval whacked the boys’ bare bottoms, it was traveling very fast and thus the SNAP felt by the boys stung much, much worse, and each time the oval landed, an angry red oval blossomed on the skin.

What happened with Vera, Jan and Marek that they deserved the bathbrush on their bare bottoms?
