You are not alone in wondering this, other moms have as well. I agree with what Mary said to you, I think more moms do they are just afraid of being attacked, going against the loud ones. I do know and have witnessed other moms that spank their children's bare bottom. I

When I have been asked these questions or "why bare" this is also the age old question asked by children everywhere, including mine “why bare”, “can you please not spank me on my bare bottom?” Asking me, pleading, discussing it with the parent is fine, but if it turns into an argument they will be told to stop, if it continues then were/will be spanked. They are told they will always be spanked bare, it is up to them to behave to not need me to spank them.

When I first spanked my daughter (she is the oldest) now 20 and subsequently my 2 boys (16 and 12) starting at 3 years old I did not hesitate to bare their bottom and take them across my lap as that was the way my brother and I were spanked by our mother, I saw no reason to change. All my kids get their bottom bared whenever and wherever I spank.

As a mom here is why I have always spanked a bare bottom. Because it is more efficient - you don't have to spank as hard to make sure it hurts. Because you can see the effect it is having and you don't "over spank" or "under spank". I can see the bottom and how the spanking is going especially when I want to attain a certain color/look before I am finished.

Spanking over clothing takes more effort to get even close the same effect as a bare bottom. It's supposed to be a punishment for the kids, not for the parents. It's also inconsistent depending on what they are wearing.

Also, it sends a VERY clear message to the child that he/she is being punished and that their parent is in control of them. It really makes the punishment a lot more effective because they really, really hate having their bottoms bared and going over the knee.
