In our case, what happened after a spanking was a big cry and cuddle. I wasn't afraid to be thorough with the hairbrush, but when a spanking was over it was over. While Jack did his dance, I put the brush back in its drawer, put my spanking chair back against the wall and went to sit on the couch. Sooner or later, when he had worked out that there was nothing he could do to stop his bottom blazing, he would come to me for comfort.

The funny thing was that the more he played the tough guy before the spanking at at the start of it, the bigger baby he was when it was all over. But I didn't mind: little boys can be so self-contained emotionally that it does them good to let it all out occasionally. I think that is a big reason why they are nicer and happier after a good spanking.
