I remember going through spank-cry stages whenever mom spanked me. I was the opposite of "didn't hurt" - more like STOP STOP MOM PLEASE IT STINGS IT STINGS! right when my bare bottom hairbrush spanking started.
Extra embarrassing in early teens, knowing I'd end up crying like a baby.. I also shouted "ENOUGH! THAT'S ENOUGH! and I REALLY meant it! Like someone said, no matter how many times I got spanked those first few brush spanks were shocking!
At just ten SMACKS my both buns were burning and it WAS enough! I'd learned my lesson! I'd burst into tears hearing mom snap, "I'm just getting started," and from then on I cried louder and louder, for a little bit I'd wail "STOOOP! STTTOOPP' WaWa WaWA "NOnnnNOOO!" Aha aaahaaa
God that brush was wicked, so I'd breakdown into frantic bawling barely able to babble nonsense and I even squealed high pitched so you'd think a girl was being spanked instead of a 13-yr-old boy.
It's hard to remember my spanking dance, by then I was hysterical, hopping and rubbing as the sting kept building in my behind. I know I had a hard time catching my breath.
I'd TRY to let out another howl, but didn't have enough air, so my mouth would be open with nothing coming out until I GASPED then gave a long screech/scream.
It wasn't until after my dance I could gather my wits enough to speak, and then only sputtering out apologies between heaving sobbing.

I do appreciate reading you moms perspectives.
