It used to amuse me that if one of my son Jack's friends was grounded he would get very indignant on his friend's behalf. If we went for a walk he would list all the things his friend wasn't allowed to do and wave his arms.

If I ever said "Do you think it's better to be spanked then?" he tended to go a bit coy with me - he didn't want to give Mum any encouragement to reach for that terrible hairbrush again!

But grounding Jack would have been the worst possible way to punish him. I used to make sure he had a run every day, like a dog LOL, because that dealt with most behavioural problems before they arose.
