This is a very good question.

When I started hand spanking Jack when he was 4, he was very much a d - a quick cry and cuddle on my lap and he would go back to what he was doing. As he got a little older, I found I had to spank longer and harder to stop him turning into an e.

The e went away as soon as I changed to spanking with the back of a wooden hairbrush, to be replaced by an a. After the spanking he had a long cry and cuddle before I helped him up to bed. He would occasionally want to talk on my lap, but usually just wanted to be a baby and have a good cry.

But he did think about his spankings and what he had done wrong. I remember when I found out he had been knocking on doors and then running away down in the village. As you can imagine, I followed a very red little bottom up the stairs to bed that evening.

When we went for a walk a few days later, he said he had been thinking that he wouldn't like it if someone did that to Granddad, so he shouldn't do it to other people's granddads. I thought that was impressive for a ten-year-old, even though his granddad was still in his fifties and was very amused when I told him the story.
