Tina,

I am pretty late to this but wanted to comment on it as this is something I have done often when going shopping. It could/can be especially amusing when going with my children, when they were younger, and now when I go with my grandchildren. Watching Mommy or Grandma with worried, wide eyes, while she smacks the spoon head in her hand.

I am quite content with my hairbrush, starting to use with the children when they have been around 8 yrs old. However, I have used my wooden spanking spoon for many years for when the children have been younger.

I've had my spanking spoon for 30+ years, finding it at Walmart of all places. I used it liberally with all of my children, their friends, my nieces and nephews and now younger kids I babysat as well as with my younger grandchildren. It has reddened many bottoms over the years. I do have a few duplicate spares that I keep in different spots and have used on rare occasions, but the one I keep in the drawer in my kitchen is the one that I use almost exclusively. It's a very solid spoon and one I've been very happy with in it's frequent service over the years. The children of course I can't say feel the same!

That being said, I still can't help looking and picking up (and smacking sometimes) when I see a spoon I like at the store, thinking how effective it would be, being applied to bare bottom while over my knee. But like yourself Tina, I have never purchased anything. As I said, I am quite happy with my spanking spoon.

Sarah
