Hi Jennifer,

I wholeheartedly endorse and applaud your introduction of a paddle into your spanking repertoire! I think 10 years old is plenty old enough to use an implement for spanking. Really, it's the child who has earned the punishment, not the parent...and just simple physics, whatever impact is being applied to the child's behind, is the same impact being applied to your hand. Apparently the palm has fewer nerve endings so it hurts less than the lass or lad's bottom...but your hand can still hurt significantly.

I think a mixture of hand spanking and then the use of a paddle, is a good combination. I see a hand spanking as just the warmup for the "Main Event." It would be like "The Fabulous Thunderbirds" opening for "The Rolling Stones."

After our kids were born, I ordered a custom-made paddle made of Cocobolo wood. Cocobolo is a tree from the rainforests of South America, an EXTREME hardwood, almost like a resin. It's about 16 inches long in total, the business end is around 10.5 inches, long enough to paddle both bare fanny cheeks simultaneously, right across the crack...and yet short enough to comfortably use for over-the-lap spankings. I made sure the paddle was thin enough so that it would impart a superficial sting without causing any injury, like deep tissue bruising.

I tested the paddle on my own bare thigh before I ever put it into actual use; it's amazing what a sting it produces with such little effort, for the fact the wood is so dense. I believe the sting it produces on a bare butt, is incomparable.
