My preference is spanking. As Mary said, grounding takes too long, it is annoying to police and to me anyway it is hard on the whole house. Not only the grounded one, but the other siblings miss their sister/brother and it leaves a malaise over the entire household that drags on for the duration of the punishment.

A spanking is over quickly. The spanked one or ones can spend some time in thought and then move on.

My kids didn't really talk about one or the other, as grounding was never an option that I explored.
