Definitely spanking over grounding for me. I have tried grounding my girls in the past but they just get sulky and irritated and mouthy which eventually ends up in a spanking for them. So there is no benefit in prolonging the eventual outcome. I do take away their phones on the day they get spanked though but it's just for one day.

In my personal opinion, the reason I choose spanking over any other punishment is because I strongly believe that they learn best when their bums are sore and glowing red and they have some difficulty in sitting. After getting spanked for a misbehaviour, they don't repeat that mistake very quickly. If I would ask them their thoughts, they would probably not accept that getting spanked is better than getting grounded. But deep down they prefer spanking over the other because they don't enjoy getting their favourite things taken away.
