I suppose I was about 7 at the time, my sister a couple of years older.. Sunday mornings followed a routine, and the more so during the winter months. Mum would set up the ironing board and set to work on a heap of laundry. Embarrassingly she would even iron my underpants - “Can't have you seen in scruffy underpants if you get run over, Mark!”. Funny the way Mums think sometimes.

Sis and I would be playing with our toys. Lego and Corgi cars could keep me quiet for hours on end. My sister liked her crayons and poster paints. It was, by and by, a contented times for us all, albeit Mum was doing the work.

At the end of an ironing session, Mum would often moan about camp in her hand, but we kids were blissfully engaged in our own play to pay her any heed. Laundry all done and put away, Mum would spend the next half an hour or so chatting to her sister on the phone.

One particular day I had a tantrum because the cat sat down next to my newly constructed Lego house to wash her bum. Kitty did a damn good demolition job on my civil engineering project. I lashed out at the the feline fiend and, not surprisingly, she hissed back in return.

I was very quickly bent over my Mum's knee, shorts and briefs lowered, and my bottom was spanked firmly for a couple of minutes.

“It's remarkable, Annie, but spanking Mark has completely cured my hand cramp from ironing!” Mum told my Aunt..

My sister nudged me and giggled, and I scowled angrily at her.

“That is a great idea,” Mum continued on the phone “I will have to give Mark a good sound spanking every Sunday morning after ironing!”

I could heat my Aunt laughing as well as Mum. Blushing cheeks for me both ends now. Sis did not help matters by telling Mum she thought it was an excellent idea too in spanking me every week.

As you might imagine, I was teased often about this in the months to come.

Spanking serving as physiotherapy, who would have thought?
