Undoubtedly you and your little brother would go into panic mode when your mother, after solidly burning your bare buns toxic hot red, pushed you even further over her knee so that the tops of your heads probably pressed against the floor and you were able to look under your mother's legs to your flailing feet on the other side. Knowing that the backs of your bare thighs were open and available to the wooden spoon's biting sting must have been traumatizing. No one would shame you for squealing loudly and begging NO NO NO NO!!! Do you think your neighbors could hear you and your brother screaming not to be spanked on the backs of your thighs?

You must have had bright red or purple spoon ovals up and down the backs of your thighs for days. I suspect that in the summertime, when you wore shorts or your bathing suit, your friends and their mothers saw them and easily deducted that you had been a naughty girl recently.
