Hello Nicolas and Sandra

Here too we have very few reactions at all. Adults either look away or don't notice. Other children sometimes react curiously, pointing us out to their parents or other people they are with. Some even want to be barefoot too, we have had a few interesting conversations at the playground ... with the result of more barefoot friends of our children, and their socks and shoes lined up at the edge of the playground.

We have been out as a barefoot family on sunny late autumn days too, and when people got curious I simply pointed out we go by the weather, not by the calendar.

Now my husband and myself only discovered going barefoot in adult age. Living at the edge of the city with our own garden and a forest nearby, we started when I was pregnant with my oldest, more than ten years ago. We haven't quite been able to convince the rest of the family (our parents and siblings) of the same lifestyle but seeing our healthy, happy barefoot kids convinced them all that they shouldn't nag us to put shoes on them. So it's of course no problem when visiting grandparents that we don't even bring shoes along for our kids.

Wonderful that you've been able to convince your school. We checked the regulations of ours: Nothing is said about footwear. One teacher brought up the issue during a parent-teacher conference (we decided not to provide them with the recommended indoor gym shoes for physical education) but we convince them they're doing better barefoot and not taking an extraordinary risk. Indeed they haven't had any foot related accident at school.
