Hello .. How cold does it get where you are? I hope their toes are fine. You should check them closely after each snow walk, peeling skin is a sign of beginning frost damage and extended exposure to frost can destroy deeper layers of skin, taking longer to regenerate. Toes going numb means you don't notice until it's too late, so beware.

Anyway when they go out barefoot and enjoy it, it's just perfect, they can adjust to any season! Maybe it's even easier for kids. It certainly gives them a strong circulation and as they grow up they certainly have a more robust health!

(Doesn't make any of us invincible though. When the time comes to vaccinate ... do it.)

>Thinking ahead I'm sure we're in for a barefoot summer
>but my eldest moves upto high school in September and
>I fear that shoes will be required.

That wouldn't be logical at all, considering that schools aren't a particularly dangerous environment. Maybe you can argue against such a rule by demonstrating how well she survived winter?

Today was the first mild day with sun and +10°C where I live so I went on a barefoot bicycle ride, the second half (uphill) I even went in a T-shirt without a jacket earning a number of surprised looks from people in coats and wool caps.
