I enjoy going barefoot when it's not TOO unpleasant ... which means not all through winter, I guess your boys are tougher there ... Anyway, when it's not that freezing cold my feet are the first thing to get bare. I just walk or run a bit faster and they'll get warm by themselves.
And it's a pity that they can't go barefoot in school (or can they sometimes?) After all I don't consider it particularly unpleasant or dangerous to go barefoot in school. Like anywhere else it's easier and more pleasant!
