Hi all!
All three of our kids started going out barefoot well before it actually warmed up, there was still snow on the ground ... Still cold enough for long pants here, they also wear jackets but said goodbye to caps, gloves, shoes and scarves for much of the rest of the year. Their feet still have a good bit of strength left from last year and toughen up quickly, though I got to admit as an adult I wouldn't find those temperatures comfortable so I still put on warm shoes for now.
No I never assumed my children were cold just because I'm shivering, I might ask them but they always say they're fine, so it's certainly better for them. (Easier too, they'll skip more than a shoe number again over the summer!)
