I agree bundled up kids with bare feet are mega cute, I'm sure that sight brought a smile to anyone you met!
(It might change to an incredulous stare though, once the kids start leaving their barefoot tracks in the snow ...)
And it's ok for parents to wear warm and comfortable shoes while their children choose to go barefoot, so they have their own thing for themselves. I'm sure it also makes them feel good to have something they're doing better than the adults.
