I guess they're more active than average and being barefoot certainly helps with that as it makes going out a more sensual experience. Yes they go barefoot to school, after all we found there's no rule about that (and they take care not to drag dirt in, the way to school isn't that dirty fortunately).

Now as winter was coming we all discussed the risks, especially when nerves stop working and they might feel close to nothing with their feet, they wouldn't notice even serious frost damage. So they stay out only as long as they can feel everything well and their circulation keeps their toes warm. It turns out they love playing in snow for a while, wildly moving and exhausting themselves. All of them have a remarkable amount of energy!

For a child to benefit from barefoot life it's best if they have some excitement about it, all the wonderful thing they can do with their feet ... For all my children that's definitely the case!
